A Thousand People Outside
A thousand people outside
clobbering at your windows, ready to break them down.
A thousand people outside
wailing and crying, like skin torn from flesh.
A thousand people outside
not ready to leave without a fight, feet shuffling from piling anxiety.
A thousand people outside
flashing their torches in, fighting to catch a glimpse of fear.
A thousand people outside
banging their drums, the rhythm broken yet firm.
A lonely person inside
Listening to the storm outside, lying awake in bed.
clobbering at your windows, ready to break them down.
A thousand people outside
wailing and crying, like skin torn from flesh.
A thousand people outside
not ready to leave without a fight, feet shuffling from piling anxiety.
A thousand people outside
flashing their torches in, fighting to catch a glimpse of fear.
A thousand people outside
banging their drums, the rhythm broken yet firm.
A lonely person inside
Listening to the storm outside, lying awake in bed.
